The Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission (GEC) is charged with administering, interpreting and enforcing the Campaign Finance Act and laws relating to conflict of interests, financial disclosure and the regulation of lobbying. The General Provision Statutes provide the basis for the Commission's actions and operating procedures.

Largest City:

For both Kansas City and Wyandotte County the Unified Government Ethics Program promotes public trust through a political independent Ethics Commission and Ethics Administrator. The Ethics Program provides training, investigations, advising, and community outreach to residents, officials, and employees of the Unified Government in accordance with the Code of Ethics governing Kansas City and Wyandotte County.

Wichita
The city of Wichita does not have an independent ethics commission; rather the ethical issues for the city are handled by the State ethics commission.

Largest County:

Johnson County
Johnson County does not have an ethics commission separate from the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission. However, Johnson County does have a Code of Ethics for Election Officials in the county.

The Center for Public Integrity provides statistical and descriptive information concerning the handling of ethical issues for the state of Kansas.
