The commission is charged with enforcement of conflict of interest and lobbying laws and campaign finance disclosure law. The commission is composed of six members appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Missouri State Senate.

Point of Interest: In addition, the Municipal Officials Ethics Commission of Kansas City has the power and duty to render advice and opinions and to investigate and report on allegations of violations of the City's charter and ordinance provisions concerning conflict of interest and financial disclosure by city officials.
