My father-in-law and I have been going to city council meetings in Sykeston for roughly over a year regarding a project regarding the elevator and the north end of my wife's property, which is also co-owned by my father-in-law Mr. Norbert Richter.

The process began with my father-in-law wanted a drain tile put in so that the mosquitoes wouldn't have a breeding ground because of poor drainage, and a lot of sitting water. The city and the elevator claim that the long time called alley should have been a street according to city documents suppose to state what the width of the alley or street should be. I still disbute this claim because if you were to measure the width from the corner of the elevator to the other side of the dirt road it is not legally wide enough to be a street. And there is also a propane tank along this building (elevator) which should not be located in a street either.

The did give the city permission to move ahead with the improvements, but only if a few stipulations were followed. We wanted the elevator to pay for all improvements and we also wanted a brick, or concrete retaining wall put up. We stated that we did not want and we refuse to have railroad ties used for our retaining wall. Now tonight Friday night, there is a pallet of railroad ties waiting to be put into place. Now we have attended these city council meetings for a very long time and we were assured that the brick or block retaining wall pieces were to be used. I feel that this going back on there word, is an ethics violation and should not happen to people of the community when they were promised one outcome, especially when all parties agreed to it. I feel that this is unfair treatment and should be subject to our mayor being removed from his office.

I look forward to hearing from you and our mayor's name is Rick Richter. His phone number is (701) 984 - 2668.
My phone number is (701) 984 - 2279. My father-in-law is 87 years old and has lung cancer, and his phone number is (701) 984 -2382. The secretary of the City of Sykeston is Dianne Hafner and her phone number is (701) 984 - 2380.

Sincerely

Gerald "Bill" Almond
