According to an article in the Detroit Free Press [1], Michigan's Attorney General is seeking stronger financial and gift disclosure requirements for state officials, and he wants these requirements to apply to local officials, as well. But there's a catch:  they would only apply to local elected officials who are paid at least $65,000. That would include the Detroit City Council, Wayne County Commission, and strong mayors. But it would not include almost all other council and county commission members, not to mention thousands of important board and commission members, city and town managers, procurement, building, and zoning officials, etc.

The AG clearly does not want to step on too many local government toes. But at his side during his press conference were Warren Mayor Jim Fouts and Gary Brown, a candidate for Detroit City Council.
