Florida Local Government Ethics Officials to Cooperate

City Ethics' president and Jacksonville ethics officer, Carla Miller, is taking best practices to a new level in Florida. She is organizing a statewide local government ethics swap meeting, where local government ethics officials will share information and talk about swapping software and programs.

For example, Jacksonville has developed an online transparency compliance program, and other Florida local governments have developed online lobbying registration software. Local governments can agree to swap one program for another, or let other local governments use them free, or at a nominal cost.

This is a great way to keep down costs and share best practices. It's great to see cooperation coming to local government ethics.

For more information, see this article from yesterday's Jacksonville Times-Union.
